Blix calls for removal of US nuclear weapons from Europe

New York, United States — A new report from the Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission to the UN makes some surprising recommendations - among them the removal of US nuclear weapons from NATO countries. It also fundamentally challenges the Bush Administration's nuclear weapons programme and policies of pre-emptive attack.

There are 480 US nuclear weapons currently stationed in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, Italy, and the UK.

i think this whole "conflict" in iraq is stupid. we went over there to see if they had any nuclear weapons, they didn't have any yet we stayed there. i like that we're helping them, but something has to be wrong when more and more people are getting killed. and what are they doing about this whole prisoner abuse thing?

sorry if i have offended anybody!

I'd really appreciate it if you all would help me out and support my Aunt's new album title 'At Last' (in stores November 18th, get more info by going to this web-site) by doing the following. She just called and asked if I would spread the word to my friends and classmates to request her songs on all radio stations, especially one in New York called 106.7 Lite FM. You can do this by going here. Once there, scroll all the way down and look on the left where there is a section called About Lite FM and a sub-catagory called 'Requests'. Please click on this and you'll be brought to a page where you should enter your name, town, e-mail, and age. They will then ask what song and artist you would like...please say a song by Cyndi Lauper called "Till You Come Back To Me". The both of us would really appreciate all your help with this!!! Thanks in advance and spread the word please!!!

p.s. you can get samples of her songs at this web-site.

Why are Londoners and the Iraqis succeeding where the American antiwar movement couldn't?

You know what the best thing about getting a new president in '04 would be (besides a non-bring-'em-on foreign policy, solid economic principles and funding for domestic programs...)?

Being able to throw that "if you don't support our president's actions, you're a traitor" shit back in the war hawks' FACES! HAHAHA!

Except I am far too mature to do anything of that nature...

I started replying to the last entry in here but digressed...

ugh, I first saw the news of the bombing on FOX NEWS of all channels (I was flipping channels) and our resident of the white house came on talking about the "terrorists' disregard for the innocent" and all this other bullshit that just amounted to the most blatant hypocrisy I've seen in a while. Bush, what the hell would you call your murder of all those other people in Iraq???? I was so irate. And yeah, you know they're going to play this up for the post-war justification and the "Patriot" act. I think Al-Qaeda is the real-life Emmanuel Goldstein from 1984, a scapegoat on which to place all of ignorant Americans' hate. In my most cynical thoughts yesterday I was thinking that the U.S. could have been behind the bombing... something to boost the support for the now-in-question administration. Watch as the poll numbers mysteriously climb! So many things to be mad about, so much incompetency to be discussed, but it boils down to this: I wish people weren't so ignorant, too.

Media Manipulation [20 Aug 2003|02:48am]

I fell asleep and I wake up at 2:30 am to CNN's crappy fucking headline about Al Qaeda being linked to the UN Bombing in Iraq. WHEN WILL AMERICA NOTICE THAT THE NEWS WANTS TO FEED ON YOUR FEAR. Outside of America ESPECIALLY TO A NATION IN WAR.....Travel does not hold the freedom it has here in the US. It is IMPOSSIBLE GEOGRAPHICALLY THROUGH CHECKPOINTS FOR AN AFGHANISTAN TERRORIST TO MAKE IT TO IRAQ. IMPOSSIBLE....YES I SAID IT IMPOSSIBLE. We are being manipulated into believing that Iraq was a good idea.. no weapons of mass destruction but look at the terrorism. They want you to believe there was a link and PLAY ONCE AGAIN OFF YOUR IGNORANCE. EDUCATE YOURSELF. EDUCATE YOURSELF. EDUCATE YOURSELF. AND QUIT BELIEVING EVERYTHING YOUR POLITICALLY STEERED MEDIA WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE. I think I will have a glass of water.

Hey guys... with 2004 getting closer (finally), which candidate(s) do you support for the presidential race?

I'm a Kucinich fan, but would vote for anyone but George Bush in the general election.

Finally the men & women from the 3rd ID (close to where I live) are coming home... but there are still so many over there.

Anyway, just thought this might be interesting to discuss...

Cross-posted in various antiwar comms.

Sigh...

Americans are not particularly interested in hearing these stories (about how its leaders use vote-rigging as an instrument of foriegn policy) these days, because all of them have been fouled with the tweedy stench of Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn. These days, once an issue can be reliably tied to the whiny, finger-pointing left, it's instantly discredited, whether those whiny lefties actually had a point or not. You bring up something like the Allende business, or Indonesia in 1965–where we supported Suharto after the massacre of hundreds of thousands of people–and the response of Main Street America is, 'Yeah, we’ve heard that before,' like it’s not an issue of fact but some cockamamie lefty conspiracy theory, an attempt to put Suharto on the Grassy Knoll or something. So f*** it, I won’t go in that direction. But I will ask a question about Iraq: Who are Iraqis supposed to vote for?Collapse )
